Samford pitchers Alex Ledford, Jared Brasher, and Parker Curry combined for an eight inning no-hitter on Friday night, before the Terriers ruined the bid in the ninth, facing pitcher Alex Gracia. Matt Ramsay and Eric Brink recorded Wofford's only hits of the game.
The Bulldogs left Russell C. King Field tonight with a 2-0 victory, and while it was short of a no-hitter, an impressive spectacle put on by the pitching staff brought Samford's SoCon record to 15-10, currently in the third spot, behind Davidson and Western Carolina, who clinched the regular season title today.
Wofford starter Matthew Milburn was tabbed with the loss, putting him at 4-5 on the season. While allowing five hits, he struck out seven batters. After Connor Foltyn gave up a hit on his only batter faced, Will Stillman finished the night for the Terriers, giving up no hits, along with a walk and a strikeout.
Now in eighth place, the Terriers' record stands at 28-26(10-14 SoCon).
Tomorrow, the Terriers will complete this series and the regular season with a doubleheader. Currently, the first game is set for a 2:00 ET start.
