NOTE: Jacksonville has dropped Wofford from the 2014 Schedule, and Game Four has been replaced with Virginia-Wise. This article will stay up for archival purposes.
This article is part of a series previewing the Terriers' 2014 football opponents. Wofford opens home play against non-conference Jacksonville.
The Terriers' 2014 schedule at Gibbs Stadium will open up against the Pioneer League's Jacksonville Dolphins on September 6th. Jacksonville finished last year's slate with a 5-6 record, posting an even 4-4 in conference play.
Jacksonville's 2013 Season
The Dolphins dropped their season opener at Delaware, 51-35, and their subsequent away battle with Jacksonville State (48-13). Overcoming this early slump, Jacksonville posted 69 points at home two weeks in a row, effectively conquering Pioneer League foe Morehead State, along with non-conference Warner University. This homestand was closed out by Butler, a game the Dolphins lost 45-27. A ten-point loss to Drake and a 52-45 victory at Campbell set the stage for a homecoming beatdown of Davidson to the tune of 56-13. Two losses, to Marist and Mercer, wrapped up conference play. They rebounded to finish the season with a 45-24 home win against in-state school Stetson.
Jacksonville's 4-4 finish in Pioneer League play led them to a sixth place finish, down from their fourth place season in 2012.
