On October 25, an old foe will visit Spartanburg to take on the Terriers for the first time since 2005. That foe is VMI, a former SoCon member who fled to the Big South after the 2002 season.
The Keydets have won only two games in each of the last three seasons; last year's coming against Division II Glenville State (WV) and Gardner-Webb. Additionally, VMI was defeated by North Greenville, who is included on the Terriers' 2014 non-conference slate, and The Citadel.
A squad that's fallen on rough times usually needs a period of rebuilding. That might just be what the Keydets had in mind when they changed conferences over a decade ago. However, it seemed to have had an adverse affect, as they have posted dismal records season after season, not achieving a winning record since breaking even in 2003.

While the Keydets averaged 238 passing yards per game, they only put up an average of 89 rushing yards; they were also outscored by their opponents 416-235.
This Keydets team will be thrust straight into the heat of the SoCon, and they certainly won't have much room to improve just yet, and the Terriers won't be looking to give them a break, so expect an impressive outing from the home team.
This looks to be another game in which we could get a good rushing rhythm going, and put together some nice drives to earn a well-deserved SoCon victory.
Early Pick: Wofford 35, VMI 7
