Although Wofford 'ran out of time' in NCAA tournament, they made it worthwhile

They get it. With dejected faces and stunned, yet respectful dispositions, the Wofford men’s basketball team made their way past the handshake line, the raucous din of the crowd, the loss. The feeling of the loss, that is. Suffering a setback in a game is one thing; you can learn from your mistakes, implement, improve – we’ve all heard the story. However, the sting that comes with a loss is something that lingers, even for the greatest of squads.

There's no denying Wofford anymore

When the Arkansas Razorbacks, led by now-Florida assistant John Pelphrey, clinched an NCAA tournament bid in 2008, no one associated with the program likely thought that a dismal six-year drought would occur. Likewise, no one expected that the very next time the Hogs would earn a berth, it would pit them against the Wofford Terriers.

A Few Thoughts on Wofford/Michigan

Well, a new day has dawned and the Terriers' season is over.  But I'm not upset.  I'm proud of how the Terriers played through the season; how they claimed their third SoCon title (albeit avoiding Davidson) and tourney bid.  Proud of how they came out swinging against the Wolverines. After all, we were the smallest school in the tournament.

Now That's A Terrier

While Terrier Nation erupted after Wofford clinched their third NCAA Tourney bid with a 56-53 disposal of Western Carolina, Senior Aerris Smith shared an emotional interview with the Wofford/IMG Sports Network at the conclusion of his final game as a Terrier.

Year of the Terrier?

Although Wofford's nine game winning streak was snapped at the hands of Davidson on Saturday, I couldn't help but realize that this year's team has something special.  Just like those teams in '09 and '10 led by Noah Dahlman and co., the 2014 Terriers are performing amazing comebacks, great team play, and the will to play farther into March than restricted by the SoCon Tourney.  This team may just have what it takes to give the Mike Young and Wofford their third NCAA Tournament appearance.
