More than any statistic, selflessness and respect constitute this program

No one said that it would be easy. As we begin with that startling, yet obvious revelation, it's clear to see just how tough it is for a defending league champion to even make it back to the title game. When you make it to the dance, after all, the remainder of the conference grows envious, and it's around this time of year that everyone begins thinking, "Why not us?"

Twelve seasons ago, Wofford was in familiar situation

When Mike Young, who had served as an assistant under Richard Johnson for over a decade, inherited the program in 2002, perhaps no one quite knew what a dynasty was about to ensue. Likewise, no one could have predicted that, twelve seasons later, a squad in a completely different position could be fixed in a familiar situation.

The unexact science of unwarranted SoCon scenarios

With only one day of regular season action remaining, it's time to take a look at some of the scenarios -- of which there are a huge, tangled bevy -- as to where the SoCon teams could find themselves during next weekend's tournament.

Weighty league battle coming up this evening

Remember when it was said that every game is a big one? Well, that's true, but this one has some added weight. Tonight, the Terriers will look to continue defending the BenJo as Chattanooga comes to town.

Defense keeping Terriers in check during tough SoCon slate

As the sun rises on another day, Mike Young's Terriers stand alone atop the Southern Conference. With an unconscionable effort, Wofford shook off a demoralizing setback to The Citadel in early January to win their next five consecutive matchups.

Wofford regains composure, knocks off Mercer

The Terriers continued rolling through the SoCon slate, winning their fifth straight in a too-close-for-comfort matchup with Mercer. With the 49-46 triumph, Wofford is now 9-1 in conference play, with an 18-5 overall mark.

Battle of league leaders in store for Saturday evening

Between their victory over UNCG last night and Chattanooga's overtime setback to Mercer, Wofford now finds itself in sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference. Tomorrow afternoon, though, there will be something on the line in Spartanburg.

Wofford takes break from home swing with UNCG trip

Wofford men's basketball, fresh off a 72-64 home victory over East Tennessee St., will be hitting the court tomorrow evening for its first SoCon action in five days. The Terriers (7-1 conf.) have notched victories in each of the last three consecutive matchups, all played at the Ben Johnson Arena.

ETSU looms as massive test for recoiling Terriers

An old nemesis will ramble into Spartanburg tomorrow night, as East Tennessee State will take the floor at Ben Johnson Arena for the first time since 2005. Back in the day, however, the Bucs were not exactly a choice foe for the Terriers; on top of dropping the last ten of eleven contests to the Johnson City, Tenn., school, Wofford has only bested ETSU once as a Southern Conference member.

Wofford hopes to bounce back from rough conference loss

It's taken a short while for the sting emanating from Wofford's crushing three-point defeat at The Citadel to subside. The good news is there's something to learn from this, just like any other moment in the world of basketball. With this instance, though, the Terriers will be constantly reminded of what needs to improve -- their memory jogged with a stubborn tick on the loss column.

Terriers, 4-0 in conference play, set sights on The Citadel

It's been a harsh, laborious stretch of the fledgling year for Wofford men's basketball, a squad in the midst of their best seasonal start in decades. As if the non-conference slate, studded with foes inferior and nationally-acclaimed alike, wasn't rough enough for this outfit, which remains the lone Southern Conference team unconquered in league play, injuries, fatigue, and a guaranteed best shot from any conference opponent are just a few of the forces secretly ravaging this team.

Terriers' approach of taking it one game at a time paying off in the SoCon fray

For a second, forget all of the RPI rankings, the self-proclaimed experts, the hype. For just a fleeting moment, tune out the noise.

The Terriers are 2-0 in Southern Conference play.

Previewing Samford: Terriers ready for first SoCon test of season

There's arguably a world of difference between the team we saw last year at this time and the Terrier squad that's been on the court as of late. Among hanging tight with major opponents, disposing of teams they may have fallen to last season, and a general air of confidence surrounding Spartanburg, it seems like things have really changed.

Terriers want to avoid rare losing season

Dejectedly, the Terriers made their way to the locker rooms at Paladin Stadium. Behind them, the nearly-barren trees of late fall swayed deliberately in the algid Upstate air. Yes, this is the time of year in which season change, and the focus of the public begins to shift rapidly from football to basketball.
